Creative Textile Workshops with Jan Tillett
Workshop is for all levels
A series of creative textile workshops teaching the skills and processes of free motion embroidery. Learn to use your sewing machine as a means to draw pictures, patterns and to create texture. At the end of each workshop you will go home with a range of samples which can inform future work.
Introduction to Free Motion Embroidery - Thursday 2nd March
At this workshop you will be shown how to set up your sewing machine for free motion work, which fabrics and threads to use and work with and without an embroidery hoop.
Applying Fabrics and Threads - Thursday 13th April
Building on the previous workshop you will learn how to add texture to your work by applying fabrics and threads. Ideal for making appliqué pictures.
Using Water Soluble Fabric and Film - Thursday 11th May
This is an opportunity to explore the potential of water soluble products. You will make lacy patterns and also learn how to make a bowl made from stitch.
Stitching in Space - Thursday 8th June
Learn how to create trees, ferns, flowers and more with your sewing machine and a hole in a piece of fabric! As well as learning the technique you will create a small tree silhouette picture which can be mounted in a card or frame.
Teas/Coffees/Cake will be provided. Please bring your own lunch.
